How To Transition Your Skin for Summer

Did you know your skincare routine should adjust with the weather? As the weather warms up here are some things you should start immediately:

Exfoliate More. You should be exfoliating anyway but you need to step it up. If you are exfoliating once or twice a week, up it to three times a week especially if you are outside a lot.

Stay Hydrated. Your skin needs water to stay healthy. As it gets warmer outside, you need to up your water game. Instead of drinking the minimum 8 cups per day, double it. Your skin will thank you.

Use SPF. If you are going to be in the sun, use SPF especially on your face. There are a ton of bb and cc creams with SPF in them so you can still have coverage and protect your skin. Make sure to check your ingredients when buying sunscreen. You can find out if the sunscreen has clean ingredients using the app Think Dirty.

Face Steam. You know I have been talking about face steaming lately on Instagram and what a game changer it has been for my skin. With the weather heating up your skin is going to have more oil & dirt build up than in the fall/winter. Face steaming opens your pores and loosens the build up so its easier to cleanse your skin. You do not want to skip this step this summer.

Cleanse your face for 30-60 seconds. Wash your face for a minimum of 30 seconds but try to go longer if you have time. It's so important to cleanse your skin during these hot months so your pores won't get clogged. Clogged pores result in whiteheads, blackheads and acne and we don't have time for that.

Always remove your makeup/sunscreen at night. This is a reminder to always remove your make up & wash your face before bed. I know after a long day in the sun you may be tired but this is a must do.

Detox. Use a detox mask on your face. This will help draw out impurities, unclog pores, absorb dirt/oil and removes dead skin cells. This is a must during the summer especially if you have oily, acne prone skin.
