Good morning ,
We live in a world where everything we need is easily accessible, or just a Google away. Most of us are on social media every day, where we get to see everyone else's great life. It can be easy to assume we need certain things to feel happy. It can be easy to assume that if we only had what they have, we would feel better about our lives.
One of the things my daughter, Denver, tells me is, "I'm not happy," or "You aren't making me happy."
To which I respond, "It's not my job to make you happy."
It's no one's job to make us feel better. That is a lot of pressure to put on others. The truth is, our desire shouldn't be to "be happy."
The world won't tell you this, but I'll say it anyway. We need to get better at contentment. Being content whether we have a lot or have a little. Being content because, regardless of how we feel or what we have, our hope is in the Lord.
Contentment comes from experiencing true joy and peace that only comes from the Lord. It's not fleeting. It doesn't depend on a good day. It doesn't change based on what others do. Being content is our heart posture. Whether we have a little or a lot, we rejoice and thank God for his goodness. This doesn't mean that we don't set goals or budget for vacation. It means we don't allow those desires to overshadow our gratitude for where we are now.
"But godliness with contentment is great gain, for we brought nothing into the world, and we cannot take anything out of the world. But if we have food and clothing, with these we will be content."📖 I wrote a book! Click Here to read it
